OFFENSIVE GUARD PLAY

Saturday’s game against the Vikings showed the significant problem the Chiefs have at guard. Jeff Linkenbach and Ricky Henry each struggled significantly at left guard in replacement of Jeff Allen, and rookie Zach Fulton was all out of sorts when it came to communication and technique.

Kansas City signed Mike McGlynn this week to compete with Linkenbach and Henry for the guard spot to start the season, and there is always a chance we could see Eric Kush get some time at guard to see if he can handle the position.

Eventually Donald Stephenson is going to return and Allen is going to move back to left guard and some stability will return to the offensive line. But the Chiefs do need one of Linkenbach, Henry, or McGlynn to show they can hold the fort for at least four weeks. If not then the Chiefs could be in some trouble.
