Outstanding Performance by a Position Group

The Award goes to the Defensive Line.

Jaye Howard has risen from the ashes this offseason and a lot people know his name who didn’t know his name a year ago. Dontari Poe has had to suffer through an offseason of vanilla play calling. He’s been criticized of late but there is no questioning his ability to control at will. Vance Walker has looked very good this offseason too. Mike DeVito, though hurt, will be a force again when he returns, and the progress that Mike Catapano has made this offseason is dramatic and he figures to contribute significantly as well.

Runners-up: Both the Linebacking Corp. and the WR group have had a very good camp. The loss of Joe Mays keeps me from making them the choice. Anytime you have Derrick Johnson, Tamba Hali and Justin Houston on the same position group, it’s very, very difficult not to choose them. However, I felt the DL has made the most progress and needs the attention. This WR group is going to be better than many expect but is still in “wait-n-see” mode.
