First, let me apologize for initially leaving Sherman off of last week’s roster prediction. He was on my original list but for some reason I did not put him in the post. Please find the grace and mercy in your hearts to forgive me for such an oversight.
Sunday displayed that while Knile Davis has a lot of potential as a dynamic backup running back he still has a lot to learn. Davis struggled mightily in pass protection and in executing the Chiefs screen game. At least one sack and another hit on Alex Smith against the Panthers was a result of Davis’ failure to block his man. This must be an area he improves if Andy Reid is going to feel comfortable giving him more snaps.
Cyrus Gray has looked good this preseason and he makes this roster as one of the last three men on. His value on special teams and his improvement as a runner give him some value in multiple areas for the Chiefs. And since Thomas isn’t a true running back it would make sense to carry a fifth man in the backfield.
