For the Kansas City Chiefs, “The D-Bowe Show” won’t start until the second game of the 2014 NFL season.
KC’s top WR, Dwayne Bowe, has been suspended for one game by the NFL. Bowe’s suspension stems from a November arrest in which police found marijuana in his car.
The Chiefs have released a statement on the suspension:
"Dwayne has been given a one-game suspension by the National Football League. We are disappointed in the situation and will miss him on the field, but we support the league’s decision. The club will have no further comment on the matter."
The suspension was first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The Chiefs had to know this was coming. Bowe did plead guilty to a lesser charge and while he only paid a small fine, the NFL frowns upon any actions by players that don’t “protect the shield.”
The loss of Bowe makes KC’s already thin WR depth that much thinner. The team will likely need to rely more heavily on the legs of Jamaal Charles and Alex Smith when they face the Tennessee Titans in Week One.
What do you think, Addicts? Can the Chiefs still beat the Titans at home without Bowe?
