4. Wide Receivers Part One

Key Figures: A.J. Jenkins, Kyle Williams, Donnie Avery

At Stake: Snaps as second receiver

Projected Leader: Donnie Avery

Figuring out the Chiefs wide receiver depth chart after Dwayne Bowe has been something of a nightmare but in a good way. One of the more surprising aspects of training camp has been some of the quality performances turned in by a few of the ‘forgotten’ wide receivers from last season’s team. Kyle Williams and A.J. Jenkins in particular have turned in excellent camps when they’ve been healthy.

Donnie Avery is still the Chiefs number two receiver and has had a good camp himself through two weeks. But his inconsistency last season really hurt the Chiefs offense at times, especially when the Chiefs were trying to go downfield. Williams and Jenkins each have the speed to stretch the field and be used in multiple ways. A strong preseason from either one of them could force Avery down the depth chart.

For now it is Avery’s spot to lose.
