Even with the selection of Dee Ford in the first round of this year’s NFL draft, Tamba is still going to have to play a large role in our defensive scheme. We all saw how important a good pass rush is to Bob Sutton’s defense when Justin Houston went down, and Tamba is going to play a huge role in that.
While Tamba has always been a force to be reckoned with while attacking the quarterback, there is the issue of the weight gain he experienced in the offseason.Reports had him at 20 pounds heavier than his ideal playing weight. While I’m not one to look too far into weight, it will be interesting to see how Tamba fares this preseason, specifically his quickness. If the weight gain was intentional, then I’d like to see more strength from Tamba off the edge, possibly allowing him to even play further inside on the defensive line.
