As the start of the season inches closer, it seems like the excitement for Kansas City Chiefs football is exploding exponentially. Training camp battles we have been talking about for over a month will finally play out, and we’ll really get to see how the new players and rookies look in a new system. Oh, and there is also that minor issue of three of our most important players wanting big, new contracts.

In case you haven’t heard, Jamaal is going to hold out from training camp in order to pursue a new deal. (Edit: Not anymore!) Add this onto Alex Smith and Justin Houston being on contract years, and we seem to have an issue when it comes to cap space. Ben Nielsen already gave his thoughts on the situation, which I agree with, so I’m not going to rehash those thoughts.

Instead, I’m going to look at a few things to keep an eye on during training camp. Specifically, I’m going to look at some personnel groupings which could result in matchup problems for the opposing team, and allow for even more creative play calling this upcoming season.
