ERIC FISHER

Q: Why come early?

FISHER: “I had the surgery, so I need to get out here and get situated before the vets get here. I’m glad to be here early.”

Q: How did it feel out there?

FISHER: “It felt good. You know, just back to football like I’ve been doing my whole life.”

Q: Being so limited on what you can do, what has been the biggest challenge?

FISHER: “There hasn’t been any challenges. As soon as I could do what I could do, I was in there working and took care of business.”

Q: Where are you at now after offseason workouts?

FISHER: “I’m weighing about 315. I’m happy with that weight. I think they’re happy with that weight. I’m ready to get to work.”

Q: When were you able to start doing upper body stuff?

FISHER: “Sometime in the summer. I think it was before OTAs. I’ve been working my butt off and am just glad to be out here.”

Q: Were you able to make the gains you wanted with your upper body even with your injury?

FISHER: “I never really lost strength. I’ve been in there working and when you can’t bench there’s other things you can do and that’s what I was doing.”

Q: How is your lower body?

FISHER: “I feel very good about my lower body.”

Q: How would you categorize your shoulder?

FISHER: “I’m ready to go. I’m all here working. That’s all that matters.”

Q: Is there any pressure at the left tackle position?

FISHER: “It’s not about pressure; it’s about doing your job and block everything else out. I’m glad to be back in my home position, but I’m ready to get back to work like I said.”

Q: How is it being back at left tackle?

FISHER: “It’s like riding a bike. I felt good out there today. It’s a lot more natural for me. I’m really excited about it.”

Q:  Do you feel like you’re where you need to be coming off being injured?

FISHER: “I feel great honestly. I feel good. Like I said, I’m ready to get to work. I’m out here. I’m glad I got here early to get a jump on things.”

AA: You really get the sense from these first set of questions Fisher is motivated to go out and prove something to everyone. Sort, sweet, no nonsense. Fisher definitely has the talent to be an excellent left tackle but promise does not always equal production. No doubt he is going to have a huge spotlight on him this preseason.

Q:  What did the extra weight do?

FISHER: “I think I could honestly carry more weight. Obviously, it’s a little bit of an adjustment. Probably put on about 20 pounds, but I felt good out there today.”

Q: Are you going to be in pads on Saturday?

FISHER: “As far as I know, yep.”

AA: Fisher’s biggest problem last season was not having the strength to deal with the bullrush from stronger NFL pass rushers. The 20 additional pounds should give him some extra power to deal with those situations without having to cheat to compensate for bullrush. There are a lot of things that favor a Fisher breakout season in 2014 assuming he is healthy.
