So much for all the speculation and reading the tea leaves. Adam Schefter is reporting the Denver Broncos will sign Emmanuel Sanders to a contract.

This comes out of nowhere as indications were Sanders would end up in either Kansas City or San Francisco. It turns out it will be neither.

Sanders will fill the roster spot left open by Eric Decker and will fit nicely in the slot once Wes Welker is a free agent after the 2014 season. So the fit makes sense.

The Chiefs are now left to fill their wide receiver needs with cheaper options. Jason Avant and Joe Morgan are known to be on the Chiefs radar and may combine to be the solution the team is looking for in the slot. Kansas City could also spend a draft pick or two on a wide receiver. This draft is expected to be very deep at the position.

We’ll let you know when there is a confirmation of Schefter’s report. For now, let this be your Denver Broncos venting post.
