Dunta Robinson was likely the worst player on the Chiefs roster this past season. Brought in to either play the cornerback position opposite Brandon Flowers or, at least, play the nickelback position, Robinson couldn’t do either very well. I’m not sure if he’s lost a step due to age or just was mis-scouted, but Dorsey really missed the boat on this guy.
For a player being paid mid-range starting cornerback money, Robinson only played in eight games — starting only twice — for the Chiefs in 2014. He was consistently out of position, took bad angles on the ball and didn’t tackle well when he did find the ball carrier. PFF rated Robinson a -8.9 on the season, and he only managed 13 tackles and four passes defensed all year.
While many say he was a great “locker room guy” and a motivator, the Chiefs needed football players on the team. To his credit, Dorsey has seen the error of his ways and already cut ties with Robinson, freeing up some much needed salary cap space.
