In case you missed it, Kansas City Chiefs star running back Jamaal Charles appeared on “The Drive” with Danny Parkins on 610 Sports Radio this afternoon, promoting the video game Call of Duty: Ghosts. Parkins has quite a few questions for Charles regarding the Chiefs final game of the season against the Indianapolis Colts in the Wild Card Round. But first, Parkins asked Charles if he “talked trash” on the field.

"I’ll let my play speak for itself unless somebody says something crazy."

The topic quickly moved to the monster hit Charles’ teammate linebacker Derrick Johnson laid on him during the Pro Bowl last Sunday and whether he was upset.

"That’s one of those games you can tell somebody how fast they should be going. He just caught me [off] guard. I can’t really tell another man how fast he should go. He was going 100 and I was going 80 and I [my head] wasn’t on a swivel. It’s part of the game."

From there, the conversation turned the concussion Charles sustained during the loss to the Colts, which sent him to the locker room just six plays into the match up.

"I’m good. I was trying to get back into the game. I feel like I didn’t have a concussion. I felt like a ‘wooze’ like a boxer. I was mad about that but you can’t do nothing about that the way the NFL is with the concussion rules. You’ve got to respect the NFL rules."

Parkins then asked Charles if he thought the Chiefs would have won the game if he had remained on the field.

"I feel like I do. I was getting ready to carry my team."

From there, Charles had this to say on the Colts and the loss.

"At the end of the day my team had a great season. Lucky [Andrew Luck] was lucky that day. You can’t live on that game anymore. You have to suck it up and hope to relive that season again next year. Stay hungry. Keep on being hungry. Once you stop being hungry you start losing again."

Parkins wasn’t done with the concussion questions, though. He asked Charles what he thought about the NFL’s concussion protocols.

"I feel like when somebody wants to play, let them play. The NFL is the NFL rules. Some people are going through real life stuff. They are protecting the players and protecting the team."

Looking ahead to next season, Parkins asked Charles if he thought this Chiefs team was close to going to the Superbowl.

"I think it is. [We] got ten people who made it to the Pro Bowl. We’ve got talent on our team. You got to ball out during the season. We almost did it playing the Colts but we came up short."

The final question for Charles regarded his contract. It seemed to annoy J.C. a bit when Parkins asked if he was happy with his contract.

"I won’t speak on contract stuff. I’m happy being a Chief and I want to retire as a Chief. I just go out an play football."

It was a pretty short interview, but provided a bit of insight into what a third of the Chiefs offensive production thinks about his team and the season. Click here to listen to the full interview.
