Kyle Van Noy – 6’3 235lbs – BYU

Last year, Van Noy played alongside another pass rusher whose name you may recognize. That person was the fifth overall pick last year, Ziggy Ansah and yet, Van Noy was still considered to be the more impressive player. In 2012, Van Noy totaled 53 tackles, 13 sacks, 22 tackles for a loss, two interceptions, six forced fumbles, and five passes defended. He is known as an excellent blitzer but also a far above average pass defender. Most outside linebackers don’t consistently complete interceptions but it’s something Van Noy takes pride in or so it seems. He’s a good run stopper and is one of the most quick twitch explosive linebackers in the draft. This year Van Noy has 54 tackles, four sacks, 13 tackles for a loss, five passes defended, and two interceptions. Being overshadowed by Ziggy Ansah may have had a role in Van Noy’s decision to stay at BYU for his senior year and I think that was a good move. I don’t think that he’ll go fifth overall like his fellow Cougar but he’ll most certainly be a first round pick.
