Chiefs vs. Browns: Why To Expect 8-0 Come Sunday Evening

The Kansas City Chiefs look to go 8-0 on Sunday when they face Jason Campbell and the Cleveland Browns for a romp at Arrowhead Stadium. Already the NFL’s lone undefeated team, the Chiefs can stay atop the NFL and the AFC West another week by taking Cleveland down. They can do it, too. Cleveland comes to Kansas City as losers of two straight games and they’ll be starting their 3rd Quarterback of the season.

I expect Kansas City to take their record to 8-0 this weekend, and here’s why:

The Arrowhead Advantage

Home field advantage is once again a reality in Kansas City. The loudest open-air stadium in the world will again be charged up for Sunday’s game, and I expect this to especially affect Jason Campbell in his first start of the season. Look for at least 2 false starts and a delay of game.

Jason Campbell

Speaking of Campbell, I expect him to struggle. Not just because of the hostile environment but because of his offensive line. Cleveland ranks 2nd in the league in sacks allowed with 27, and well, we all know about the Chiefs defense and their knack for sacks. Look for Campbell to get sacked, rattled, and ultimately turn the ball over.

The Offense is Improving

The offense took steps forward last week versus the Texans. Sure, they scored on a broken play. Yes, they turned the ball over. But, they did have a TD somehow not called a TD (I’m counting that one, Fasano) and improved by leaps and bounds on 3rd down (7/15). The 3rd down improvement was huge. Kansas City was able to sustain drives and ultimately put up 357 yards on a pretty good defense (Houston is still 1st in ypg allowed). I expect the offense to take another step forward on Sunday against yet another strong defensive team (Cleveland is 7th in ypg).

What do you think Addicts? Do the Chiefs fall back to Earth, or do they keep their winning streak alive?
