2014 NFL Draft: Guard Prospects You Should Know
Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
Xavier Su’a-Filo – 6’5 315lbs – UCLA
Xavier Su’a-Filo is mostly known for his fantastic run blocking, allowing running back Jonathan Franklin to have a record setting 2012 season. His pass blocking is nothing to be sneered at, though. He is blocking for one of the best quarterback prospects in college football in Brent Hundley. He has played both guard and occasionally tackle when needed due to injury. Su’a-Filo started his career in 2009 with 13 starts at left tackle but he took a two year hiatus for a Morman mission. He was named team co-captain in 2012 and is known for his high character and leadership. He was named First-Team All Pac-12 by the other coaches in his conference and is expected to receive similar accolades this year. I expect Su’a-Filo to be drafted in the late 3rd to early 4th round.
