While the Kansas City Chiefs interview former Eagles head coach Andy Reid in Philly, we can tell you that one potential candidate for the Chiefs job is out.

The Atlanta Falcons have re-signed offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter. Koetter reportedly interviewed with the Chiefs yesterday in Atlanta.

Koetter, despite not being as sexy a choice as Andy Reid (yes, I just used “sexy,” “choice” and “Andy Reid” all in the same sentence) Koetter was drawing interest from a number of teams.

The only other candidate that has been linked to the Chiefs, other than Reid, is Falcons special teams coach Keith Armstrong. It is believed that the Chiefs also interviewed Armstrong while in Atlanta.

If the team did in fact interview Armstrong yesterday, they have satisfied the “Rooney Role” which requires all NFL clubs to interview at least one minority candidate before making a decision on a new head coach.

That means the Chiefs could theoretically hire Reid today.
