Chiefs Trim Roster To 80 Players, O’Callaghan To IR
The Kansas City Chiefs had to trim their roster to 80 players by 3Pm central today.
According to Josh Looney, the team has now released kicker Todd Carter. They have also placed OT Ryan O’Callaghan on injured reserve. The subtraction of those two players puts the Chiefs at 80.
O’Callaghan landing on IR is surprising but not shocking. He has been injured most of camp.
His departure does, however, further weaken the Chiefs at the offensive tackle position. With Barry Richardson struggling, Jered Gaither is looking more and more important by the day.
Man, after losing Sean Ryan last season and now O’Callaghan, the Chiefs are depressingly low on Irish guys. Oh well. At least they still have Dexter McCluster.
