Chiefs Draft Prospects: Justin Trattou

facebooktwitterreddit

According to Tony Pauline of SI.com, the Kansas City Chiefs linebackers coaches held a private workout with Florida DE/OLB Justin Trattou yesterday.

Trattou is 6-4, 255 pounds and is currently projected to be an undrafted free agent prospect.

I’ve checked out some scouting reports on Trattou and he seems to be the prototypical prospect for the Chiefs. He’s all heart, tough, has a good motor and is a hard worker.

Oh and he was a team captain.

More after the jump.

The knock on Trattou is that he is simply limited in what he can do physically. He isn’t overly fast, doesn’t have very long arms and is inconsistent.

Sometimes NFL teams can find a diamond in the rough at the back end of the draft or in undrafted free agency but I doubt Trattou is one of those prospects. He is coming out of one of the best football programs in the country and chances are the folks at Florida have maxed out his potential.

That isn’t to say Trattou couldn’t be a contributor for the Chiefs. Hard workers with limited talents can often carve out careers for themselves as reliable backups and special teams players. Think Jon McGraw.

Have any of you watched Trattou play in the SEC? Any thoughts?
