Chiefs Get Caught Napping

Yesterday there were some reports that the Chiefs were highly interested in WE Nate Burson. Well, so were the Lions.

Seahawks.

From ESPN:

"Nate Burleson agreed to a five-year, $25 million deal from the Detroit Lions, according to a source. In going to Detroit, Burleson will reunite with offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. Under Linehan, Burleson had his best season in 2004 when he caught 68 passes for 1,006 yards.According to the source, Burleson will receive $11 million in guarantees.Burleson, 28, was considered one of the top receivers in free agency. He had been with the Seahawks the past four seasons. His contract voided this year, making him an unconditional free agent."

Where were Scott Pioli and Todd Haley last night? Were they having a pajama party sleeping on pillows stuffed with Clark Hunts money?

Look Addicts, I am an optimist. I tend to want to trust Scott Pioli and I know it is still early in the process but the Chiefs have not been linked to a single top tier free agent who could make an impact on this team. I believe that building through the draft is the way to go but any fool can see this team is in desperate need of playmakers and playmakers don’t come cheap. I don’t expect Pioli to act like the 2nd coming of Dan Snyder but good grief. Watching Dansby fly to Florida, Peppers and everyone else fly to Chicago I can’t help but get a little restless. Heck, the Chiefs haven’t even signed Chris Chambers yet. He could sign with another team any second.

I sure hope Pioli has a plan. There are still some good free agents out there. Told you yesterday that Pioli would need to be smart but aggressive. Our own Adam Best was even ind enough to give Scott Pioli a Blue Print on what do do in free agency. Has he listened yet? No.

Right now, I feel he is doing neither. If Pioli insists on being stubborn here in brings in another batch of castaways like Mike Goff, Amani Toomer and Ashley Leli the Chiefs can expect more of the same this coming season.
