Branden Albert remains missing in action from the Jaguars offseason workouts, and head coach Doug Marrone says he’s hasn’t yet heard from the tackle.
Former Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Branden Albert isn’t as fond of his new surroundings as he initially stated when first traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this offseason. The veteran lineman remains missing from Jacksonville’s offseason activities, and new head coach Doug Marrone says he’s yet to hear back from Albert this week.
"“I have not had any communication with him [this week], which is a surprise,” said Doug Marrone to reporters on Friday. “I don’t know what his thoughts are going forward. I can’t comment on that. Obviously, it’s voluntary, but I was surprised that I didn’t receive a call back from him.”"

Albert was traded to the Jags by the Miami Dolphins for a seventh round selection in recent weeks after the Dolphins were originally set to release Albert to the open market. At first, Albert stated he was happy to be wanted and said he was “excited” to go to Jacksonville, but apparently he’s changed his mind. Perhaps he wants more money or a reworked contract, but the Jags are only in for a late round flyer, so there’s no major investment on their part if the sides need to part ways.
Albert played his first six NFL seasons with the Chiefs after they selected him at No. 15 overall in the 2008 NFL Draft. He spent the last three seasons with the Dolphins, coming over as a free agent during the 2014 offseason. Albert is a two-time Pro Bowler who will be 33-years-old this next season.
