Another look at Chiefs QB prospect Davis Webb
The latest edition of the Red Files takes us further into the case for the Chiefs drafting Cal QB Davis Webb in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Few people share my views on Davis Webb. I’m okay with that. It recently occurred to me that there are a few reasons why such is the case. He doesn’t have the same name value as the Mitch Trubisky’s of the draft class. I also realized that your opinion of him could vary widely based on the games you reviewed to arrive at your opinion. If I’m being honest, it’s also possible that you’ve seen all of the game tape and still don’t like the guy.
Although, this realization did make me wonder if perhaps I’d cherry picked five of his better games. The larger the sample size, the smaller the window for biased analysis, so I decided to expand my film study to see if my opinion of him would change. To facilitate this process, I watched four additional games (USC, Utah, Washington and Washington State). It’s only fair considering I did a ten-game study of Texas Tech’s Pat Mahomes. Below, I’ll share my in-game thoughts and detail what I believe his strengths and weaknesses are as a prospect.
Let’s get started.
