University of Massachusetts safety Khary Bailey-Smith has drawn considerable interest from the Chiefs and Raiders for the upcoming NFL Draft.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders are doing the same homework when it comes to an assignment at UMass. Safety Khary Bailey-Smith is drawing the interest of the AFC West before the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft. The senior, listed at 6-2, 203 pounds, had 69 total tackles last year for the Minutemen, along with 4 passes defended, 1 forced fumble.
These teams aren’t the only ones interested, as the New England Patriots are also working out Bailey-Smith before the draft begins.
"“The Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs, they are both looking to get as much information on him as possible,” Bailey Smith’s high school coach, Kevin Mackin said. “It was an interesting thing to do to give the information on somebody that is looking to play the game at the highest level."
Bailey-Smith comes with a bit of an injury risk and history as he missed nearly the entire 2015 season with a knee injury. He was given a medical redshirt and allowed to return for the 2016 season. Before his injury, he served as the primary kick returner for UMass in 2013 and 2014.
