Alex Smith will be the keynote speaker at an upcoming fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield, Missouri.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith will be the keynote speaker at the 21st Annual Steak & Steak Dinner and Charity Auction on April 11, held to raise money and awareness for the Boys & Girls Clubs in Springfield, Missouri. The event will held at University Plaza Convention Center.

Smith is a strong advocate for teens through his own foundation, the Alex Smith Foundation. Smith specifically works with foster teens as they transition into adulthood, a very underserved population, especially at that age. However, it’s clear that Smith’s heart for students in need extends in all directions, as he continues to advocate to others on their behalf.

The annual dinner and charity auction help provide the monetary support needed to make up the gap in funding between the money taken in by memberships to the Boys & Girls Clubs and the actual money spent on programs for at-risk youth. Per the Springfield News-Leader:

"The dinner will raise critical funding to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield and more than 2,500 registered members served each year. Many of these young people come from disadvantaged circumstances and look to the club as an important stabilizing force in their lives. The Steak & Steak Dinner helps bridge the gap between the $40 fee club members pay each semester and the more than $1,000 it costs to provide programs to them. Seats for the dinner and program are $250."

Sponsorship opportunities remain available at all levels as well as individual seats. Sponsorship levels can include pre-event party tickets for up to 22 people, 22 tickets for dinner and the program, photos with Alex Smith, logo placement, a commemorative gift and more.

Former speakers at the dinner include Roy Williams, Rick Pitino, Drew Brees, Bob Gibson, Brett Favre, Bill Russell, Dick Vitale, Mike Ditka and more.
