The Chicago Bears have announced the latest addition to their coaching staff with the hiring of assistant special teams coach Derius Swinton II.

The Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs have switched a few personnel members over the years, from former Chiefs exec Phil Emery to former Bears special teams guru Dave Toub. Now a familiar face to the Chiefs, Derius Swinton II, will be the latest to switch hats as the Bears have signed Swinton to be their new assistant special teams coach.

Swinton has served as a special teams assistant for several franchises over the last eight years, including a one-year stint in Kansas City in 2012 — the first of punter Dustin Colquitt’s two Pro Bowl selections (2016). Swinton served one year with the Bears in 2015 already, so working with head coach John Fox will be familiar territory. Jeff Rodgers is the team’s primary special teams coordinator.

Swinton has also coached for the Broncos, the 49ers and Rams.
