In his latest mock draft at Bleacher Report, Steve Silverman believes that one of the top quarterbacks in the draft, Mitch Trubisky, could fall in the Chiefs lap at No. 27.

Given the lack of a high investment at the quarterback position and the potential of the team moving on from Alex Smith after this year, the Kansas City Chiefs are often linked to potential quarterbacks who fall in the first round of many mock drafts. The latest comes from Steve Silverman at Bleacher Report, who believes quarterback Mitch Trubisky from North Carolina could fall all the way to the Chiefs near the end of the first round.

"We see the Bears passing on Trubisky and selecting Watson with the third pick. Trubisky will go to the Kansas City Chiefs with the 27th pick, while Kizer may not go in the first round."

Most mock drafts do not have the quarterbacks falling this far, but given the lack of consensus about the top quarterbacks in this draft, it might help such a fall play out in the draft. While Trubisky has his admirers, he’s definitely not a sure thing by any measure. With limited starting experience of a single season (and even that in a spread offense), there’s simply no way of telling for sure how Trubisky’s skill set will transfer to the pro level.

It’s that sort of uncertainty that would allow a physical talent like Trubisky to fall past the teams picking at the top, teams who undoubtedly feel a pressure to nail a pick with a sure thing.

Trubisky completed 304 of 447 passes (68%) with 30 touchdowns and 6 interceptions last season in 13 games for the Tar Heels.
