Locked on Chiefs – KC gets shorthanded and ugly win

The Chiefs survived a late surge from the Jaguars to end the day at 6-2 after the first half of the season comes to an end.

The entire game was ugly, but they came away with the win, which is all that matters. This Chiefs team was missing their starting QB, their top two RB’s, their starting WR, starting RG and then lost their starting TE in the 4th quarter. While the win obviously wasn’t ideal it was something that they needed as they keep pace with the Raiders in the AFC West.

Travis Kelce is a phenomenal football player. He is a lot of fun to watch and can be electric on the field. That said, he needs to avoid situations like what happened on Sunday. He can’t let his emotions get the better of him and get him ejected from the game. Had West not gotten a big gain on 3rd down those penalties may have cost KC the W. The Chiefs would have only been up by 2 points and a field goal would have been all that the Jaguars would have needed.

Defense helps keep AFC West title in sight

The Chiefs defense had a rough afternoon. Allowing 400 yards of offense to the Jaguars is something that can’t happen. They were able to win the game because they were able to force timely TO’s and that helped their limited offense. Kansas City has to regroup quickly as they head to Carolina to take on the Panthers and they need to play much better to keep the winning streak alive.
