The second injury report of the season came out yesterday and the Kansas City Chiefs have some big names on the list.

Tamba Hali did not practice but it was not injury related. He had a personal issue that he went and took care of. Jamaal Charles was limited at practiced but did some drills. Charcandrick West and Phillip Gaines were full participants at practice which should be a great sign for Sunday.

For the Chargers, D.J. Fluker was a full participant again and a surprise name popped up on the list. Jason Verrett was added to the injury report and was limited with a calf injury. This could be a huge issue for San Diego if he is unable to go. Joey Bosa is still not on the Chargers active roster so he doesn’t have to be reported but several team executives have said they don’t expect him to play.

Bob Sutton talked about the young players taking over on defense this year and what they must do to be successful. Justin March has shown since day one his ability to be around the ball at all times and great instincts. This will help the Chiefs if he is able to stay on the field more often and can shut down running lanes.

Phillip Gaines is ready to move into the starting role for Sean Smith. Gaines’ has very big shoes to fill and will have a hard time to be successful. Gaines has tremendous speed and his reaction time is improving on a weekly basis. He has to trust his leg and if he can show more of the promise he showed early last season Kansas City should be in good shape headed into 2016.
