When the Chiefs take on the Chicago Bears on Saturday it will be without Jamaal Charles, Tamba Hali, Justin Houston, and Charcandrick West.

Aren’t you happy it’s preseason? There is no reason to rush Hali and Charles back to playing in a game situation if they aren’t ready. I personally would have preferred to see both get a couple snaps on Saturday just to shake the rust off now as opposed to when the real games start on September 11 against the San Diego Chargers.

One nice thing for Charles headed into the Chargers game is it doesn’t look like San Diego will have a defensive line without Joey Bosa, Damion Square and Sean Lissemore all missing the season opener.

Andy Reid stated he expects the starters to play into the third quarter in this upcoming game. This is the approach they have taken over the past couple of seasons to get the starters ready to go and I think it’s a good move. It gives them two weeks to recover before the season starts as most of the starters won’t play when the Chiefs take on the Packers on September 1st.

Kansas City also cut two players Wednesday night in Mike Williams and Stevie Brown. Williams is not a surprising cut but Brown was projected as a key reserve just a couple of weeks ago. This could signal the return of Eric Berry coming soon or maybe KC just believes that Eric Murray is ready and they will roll with Marcus Cooper as a CB/S.

The Chiefs are smart to do this now as it gives both veterans a chance to catch on to another roster before final cuts and the season starts. I don’t see Williams getting another shot in the NFL has he has really struggled in camp and in the games.
