Open thread: Chiefs at Texans

Alright everyone, this is it. The Kansas City Chiefs are opening the 2015 National Football League regular season at NRG Stadium against the Houston Texans. The Chiefs are expected to do plenty this year, perhaps even going to the Super Bowl. If that is the case, it starts now.

As for Week 1, here are the inactives for Sunday:

WR Frankie Hammond Jr., OG Jeff Allen, CB Steven Nelson, CB Marcus Cooper, QB Aaron Murray, DL Rakeem Nunez-Roches, TE Brian Taylor

The main news throughout the morning has been offensive tackle Eric Fisher. Fisher was able to practice all week on a high-ankle sprain but apparently will not start after being listed as questionable. Fisher told the coaching staff on Friday that he would not be able to start because of the injury, according to multiple reports on Twitter.

Not shockingly, Fisher is getting destroyed on Twitter by fans and former player, Shaun Smith.

Regardless, the Chiefs are still the better team heading into this game. The offensive firepower is there, provided that new right tackle Jah Reid and second-year right guard, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, can block. Look for plenty of quick throws from Alex Smith to Jeremy Maclin, De’Anthony Thomas, Albert Wilson and Jamaal Charles.
