Coffee with the Chiefs – Eric Fisher nears return

Good morning, Addicts. Why no exclamation point? Because I’m too damn nervous about the Travis Kelce situation to give you an exclamation point. While NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport has heard that Kelce has nothing more than a rolled ankle, and Kelce himself tweeted out a picture of him giving a thumbs up with the “mood” attached, I’m still concerned (the tweet was taken down minutes later). Please, Travis, do the right thing and be healthy for the rest of your natural-born life.

Alright, this is the news you need to know:

Eric Fisher getting closer to returningAdam Teicher of ESPN

"The Chiefs, though, are getting closer to being whole on their line. Fisher, who sprained his ankle in practice two weeks ago, will probably return to practice next week and play in the Sept. 13 season-opener against the Houston Texans."

Chiefs expect roster cuts to be picked up by other NFL teamsAssociated Press

"In fact, Parker became so valuable that when he reached free agency this past offseason, the Chiefs outbid several other teams to keep him. The result was a five-year contract that could pay him up to $30 million — not bad for a player whom other teams continually passed on."

Travis Kelce leaves Monday’s practice with leg injury and does not returnAdam Teicher of ESPN

"Tight end Travis Kelce left practice early because of a right leg injury. Kelce initially tried jogging off the injury. But shortly afterward he walked off the practice field under his own power, accompanied by trainer Rick Burkholder. He didn’t return to the practice field."

Thumbs up for Alex SmithAdam Teicher of ESPN

"If last impressions are what counts, Smith will have a great season. He had a great game in Friday night’s preseason victory against the Tennessee Titans, completing 16 of 18 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns. Smith also completed two passes of more than 25 yards, his first such plays of the preseason."
