Chiefs training camp awards through first week – Adam Teicher of ESPN
"Running back Charcandrick West has repeatedly shown the ability to make big plays, particularly as a receiver. West doesn’t figure to get much playing time, not with Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis on the depth chart ahead of him. But if the Chiefs lose Charles to injury or he needs relief, West could be a better option than Davis when they throw the ball. Davis has continued to struggle catching passes. West doesn’t have that problem."
Travis Kelce gets high marks compared to other tight ends – Adam Teicher of ESPN
"An argument could be made that Kelce should be ahead of Witten based on their respective 2014 seasons. Kelce had three more catches (67 to 64), 159 more yards (862 to 703) and the same amount of touchdowns (5). Witten, though, has been the better blocker."
Chiefs work out former University of Texas receiver – Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride
"The Chiefs recently signed former Mizzou WR L’Damian Washington, which probably came in response to the Chiefs losing Chris Conley and Junior Hemingway to injuries. It’s not clear whether either injury is serious. Davis left without signing a contract but the Chiefs now have a file on him should another injury hit."
Will Shields ready for enshrinement – Associated Press
"Each and every week. The only game Shields did not start was his first as a rookie, followed by a string of 231 appearances. During that time, Shields pried open running lanes for Allen, Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson. He established a pocket for Montana, Moon and Trent Green. He played for such coaches as Marty Schottenheimer, Dick Vermeil and Herm Edwards."
