Vickerson: ‘We’re Going To Get Them Next Time’

Does this count as a guarantee? If it does then November 30 is going to be a lot of fun.

Kevin Vickerson, the Chiefs freshly signed defensive linemen who was cut by the Denver Broncos in late August, said after Sunday’s game he expects to split the season series with the Broncos. And given that the Chiefs lost on Sunday that means he anticipates beating Denver in Kansas City.

"“We’re going to split. They got us this one, but we’re going to get them next time.”"

Vickerson got some snaps on run downs in Sunday’s game, which included a tackle for loss on Montee Ball in his first play as a Chief. Assuming he can stay healthy, he should be a useful rotational piece for the Chiefs with Mike DeVito lost for the season due to an achilles injury.

Maybe by November the Chiefs will be a bit healthier when they play the Broncos. Joe Mays, Donald Stephenson, De’Anthony Thomas, Eric Berry, and Jamaal Charles each missed part or all of the game on Sunday due to injury or suspension. Yet even with those injuries the Chiefs had a chance to tie or win the game late in the four quarter from inside the Broncos five yard line.

Maybe Vickerson is onto something. Let’s hope he’s right.
