The Kansas City Chiefs announced their 53-man roster this afternoon and it came with a few surprises. Here are you 2014 Kansas City Chiefs position by position.
QUARTERBACKS
Alex Smith
Chase Daniel
Aaron Murray
Injured Reserve: Tyler Bray
The Chiefs used Bray’s injuries from Thursday’s game against the Green Bay Packers to justify putting him on the injured reserve list, therefore allowing the Chiefs to keep all four of their quarterbacks without having to expose them to the waiver process. Another year of development for Bray and Murray in Reid’s system should make next summer very interesting in Kansas City, especially if they let Alex Smith walk.
Bray’s injury also allows the Chiefs to keep Daniel as their backup for one more season as a safety blanket for Murray and Bray. Kansas City values his experience as a backup to Drew Brees and his ability to help mentor players like Bray and Murray. It would be something of a surprise if he is still with the Chiefs next season.
