John Lynch Says Alex Smith Is ‘Up There With’ Drew Brees, Peyton Manning

Well it is preseason for everybody.
Fox color analyst John Lynch was very positive about Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith in his in-game analysis, highlighting his intelligence and even praising his arm strength. Things got a little out of hand though when he tried to rank Smith as being one of the best quarterbacks of all-time.
Alex Smith is definitely underrated and should be considered in the discussion as a top 10-15 quarterback. But to put Smith up there with Brees and Manning is… well this is bad.
Meanwhile, Smith gave us an update on his contract situation and the new is that there is no news.

Smith has said that he has a deadline for when he’ll stop talking with the Chiefs about a contract but he has not defined that time publicly. One would think that if something gets done it will happen after the final 53-man roster is announced. The Chiefs also have to get a deal done with Justin Houston sometime soon, too.
