De’Anthony Thomas: “I Feel Like I’m Doing Something Right”
By Ben Nielsen
De’Anthony Thomas thinks he is doing something right and I’d have to say I’m agreeing with him.
Thomas recently spoke with the Associated Press’ Dave Skretta and talked about where he thinks he is with his transition into the NFL.
"“I feel like I’m doing something right, you know?” Thomas said after spending nearly half an hour signing autographs. “Just competing, having fun. Coming to practice ready to work.”"
Skretta discusses in his piece about Thomas‘ love for contact, a contract from the player he is replacing, and his focus and drive to become a better player. His improvement and quick ascension up the depth chart hasn’t gone unnoticed.
"“He truly enjoys playing the game,” Chiefs general manager John Dorsey said. “I’m sure it’s a dream he’s chased all his life. He wants to be good. He has a degree of pride. And I think the coaching staff we have, that does nothing but refine his skills to take it to another level.”"
Thomas also says he tries to model himself after LeBron James because LeBron is such a great teammate. I’m not sure that’s the first thing I’d associate with James but it is interesting Thomas looks at LeBron and that’s the first thing to come to his mind.
There’s just so much to like about Thomas, and if he continues to grow on the field the way he has in training camp then the Chiefs are going to be in a really good spot this season.
