Offensive Coordinator Doug Pederson

Andy Reid brought with him trusted people from his time in Philly and one of those was his quarterback coach Doug Pederson.

Pederson has been around elite quarterbacks such as Dan Marino, and of course he was with Reid during the Donovan McNabb era as well. So it was with that in mind that Pederson knows how to get production out of quarterbacks, something that the Chiefs were in desperate need of. Bring in Alex Smith and Pederson was able to get some great production out of his quarterback in the first year on a new offense.

Love or hate Alex Smith, there is no doubt he is the best quarterback that Chiefs have had in recent memory. You combine that with some good offensive talent around the ball and we saw what a Chiefs offense unleashed can look like. The bad about his system is much the same has Reid. The predictability of his offensive is itself a downfall. Getting the ball into hands other than Jamaal will open up the field for other players, who have the skills, a chance to show what they can bring to the table.

As for 2014 look for Pederson to find a way to spread the ball around, especially since teams will start keying in on the Chiefs number one offensive weapon Jamaal Charles. I also feel that a second year in the system will only help the other offensive players not named Charles. The Chiefs have the talent and if Reid and Pederson are able to find a way to bring everyone on the same page this offense has the chance to be potent and give the Donkeys a run for the AFC West.
