Third round pick Phillip Gaines is officially a Kansas City Chiefs rookie.

Over the Cap estimates Gaines’ contract to be worth around $2,819,912 with a $549,112 signing bonus. His projected salary cap hit with be $557,278.

Gaines is the third of Kansas City’s six draft picks to have signed their contract, along with sixth rounders Zach Fulton and Laurent Tardif. Top pick Dee Ford, fourth rounder De’Anthony Thomas, and fifth round pick Aaron Murray are still unsigned.

It should be noted De’Anthony Thomas will be at Oregon for a few more weeks to finish out classes. Oregon uses a quarters system that will cut into mini-camp time and may delay him signing a contract.

Ford may be the last player to sign because of his first round status. Players’ agents will sometimes hold out in an effort to get the fifth year option guaranteed. It should be noted Oakland Raiders top draft pick Khalil Mack has already signed his deal so the wait may not be that long.
