Phase one of the Chiefs’ off season program will begin April at The University of Kansas Hospital Training Complex, the Chiefs announced. This will be followed by a rookie mini-camp, OTA off season workouts, and a mandatory minicamp in June.

Here’s the full schedule:

Rookie Minicamp: May 24-26

OTA Off Season Workout: May 27-29; June 3-5; June 10-13

Mandatory Minicamp: June 17-19

We are a lot closer to football than you would think. Training camp begins in three and a half months, and will be proceeded by the draft, minicamps, and OTAs. Yes, it is not games, but at least it is something. Much better than sitting around and trying to figure out how much cap space we have left.

Good news is in the next month we are going to have a really good idea of who all is going to be in camp, including draft picks and undrafted rookies. At that point we’ll get to do a little less speculating and have a better picture of what the Chiefs are trying to create for 2014 and beyond.

We’re getting closer, folks. We’re getting closer.
