Emmanual Sanders In Town, Will Stay Until Saturday

Emmanuel Sanders, a key off-season target, has arrived in Kansas City for his visit and will stay until Saturday, according to Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star. Here is the string of Tweets Paylor sent out about the situation.

Adam Teicher wrote this morning the Chiefs have a little over $7.3 million remaining in cap room so there is enough space to sign both Sanders and Vance Walker should the team be able to sell both of them on KC.

Reports suggest Sanders has a visit with 49ers lined up if he does not agree to a deal with the Chiefs in the next 24 hours.

I really hope they can land Sanders

  • David Fritch

I also really hope we go after Steve Smith. He would bring the tough attitude to our offense that could be contagious. He’s a superb rout runner and perfect for Alex Smith’s quick short passing style.

    • Montez K.

I’ve been crossing my fingers hoping for this but I don’t want to get my hopes up…Steve has been vocal about where he wants to play….my favorite receiver of all time. The guy plays with that fire! Can’t teach it.

      • berttheclock

        Ravens bound for 3 years.

    • Stacy D. Smith

He’s still spry enough to fetch a pretty big contract. I’d rather have Sanders. He’s seven years younger.

      • GDL40

And seems like Sanders is not a pain in the azz or a cancer in the locker room (Panther’s GM said he was a distraction) Runs his mouth too much, not a fan…… Oh and he’s old and expensive.

    • berttheclock

Going to be a bit tough trying that because he just signed a 3 year deal with Baltimore.

  • Brian Dempsey

Sanders does have talent & he could help right away depending on how fast he can learn Andy Reid’s offense. Maybe they can work something out to bring him on board.

    • Josh Landers

      *cough* AVERY *cough*

  • Stacy D. Smith

You got the girl back to your place John. Now what?

    • Montez K.

      Close the deal!

      • Stacy D. Smith

        EGG ZACTLY!

        • Bosco Cletus

          Burnt ends, deal closed.

That $7.3 mil in cap, is that before or after the approx $5.5 mil needed to sign draft picks.

    • Troy Utt

That is total cap space available… It will take approx $5.5mil to sign the rookie pool, & of course that number will flucuate with additional cuts & signings…

      • Jim Harper

Hi Troy! Are the Shockers gonna get it done this year? What a year! Do you also notice that some of the posters on here probably still have their Mom’s write their names on their underwear?

        • Troy Utt

I Literally did LOL at that one Jim! As for the Shocks they are tough, & play team ball! They are not going to sneak up on anyone this year… After losing to eventual Champ in final4 last yr, going undefeated thru the season & tourney… they are hungry!!!
It’s funny tho just as with the Chiefs winning season & you see red.
Down here all the sudden Yellow & Black is overflowing at the seam! They have painted buildings, locomotives, & of course anything else standing still!!!

          • Jim Harper

How about the big plane way out on west Kellog)? Do you know if Avant made it to town (talking about KC now) When I saw the 75% completion percentage on him that would really fill a need.

          • Troy Utt

Sorry had a funeral to go to… Just glad it wasn’t mine!
No I’ve not yet seen the plane but that doesn’t surprise me, as I live about as far away from it as one possibly could… I’m in the NE quadrant of Wichita.
No denying Avant has some talent & would be better than most everyone KC has on staff. Sanders still no word to my knowledge?

  • freshmeat62

I think signing Sanders could probably eliminate WR from 1st rd consideration.

  • paul pace

I would like them to sign both Walker and Sanders. Then they could concentrate on other positions in the draft, like safety and O-line.

    • berttheclock

Vance Walker has signed a 3 year deal with the Chiefs.

      • paul pace

Thanks for the info. I think that is a good move by the Chiefs.

  • GDL40

No wonder he hasn´t found a team ! looking for that kind of deal, with that physical condition ! you gotta be crazy to give him what he´s asking, just my humble opinion though.

  • tazer15

If they sign Vance and Sanders they could let Avery go however they want.Or Restructure someone or combo of both to free up the money they need to sign the rookies.I like the starting lineup of Bowe, Sander and Jenkins alot if not Sanders and guy like Edelman he would be even better than DMC in the return game. You still have Hemingway then draft a guy late like Jeff Janis or ??.I think this makes sense we could then Draft OL and FS.

    • William Johnson

We don’t need Edelman. Dressler will be our slot receiver.

      • tazer15

Yes we do need him if we dont sign Sanders.Dressler has been in the CFL for 6years or whatever.Im not counting on a guy thats never played a down in the nfl as our new WR.Hell be hard pressed to make this team.Good point on Mcknight he could step in and help some.Id love for Dressler to do well but theres a reason Sanders is in town.Looks like we just inked Vance???

        • Josh Landers

Let’s not forget that we had a great looking offense the second half of the season. With bums at wr. Ioce DMC but he’s just an average slot guy. Avery=bum. Duck dynasty played great last year. We’re getting Kelce back this year. Dressler COULD be really good. The dude has put up great numbers in the cfl. Which means he could come in and be above average in the nfl. Or he could be a bum. Lol. Either way, as long as our o-line is set up for success I think our offense NEEDS a lot less than it seems. A good number 2 would make us great, though. Plus, don’t sleep on Abdullah. That dudes a baller. And we get commings back this year. Fs=not a need. We have a tough schedule this year so I wouldn’t plan on breaking 10-6 and that’s being generous. I think this team will improve even if our record doesn’t. GO CHIEFS!!!

    • KCMikeG

Not sure how Edelman is better than DMC? He has had one good season as a WR & one as a PR/KR out of a five year career. McCluster was the #1 PR in the NFL last year and had contributed over 1,000 total yards every year. I’m not big on Sanders and would rather see Hemingway get more reps. Like Janis but think if they don’t sign Sanders that they will draft Beckham as he would truly replace DMC in every aspect.

      • tazer15

DMC was my favorite player I even ran into him at a club after a game and got to hangout.Hes a great player and better person.I think Eldelman is an all around better player than DMC.I would be willing to bet the contract he signs will show that.As much as I want to be wrong I dont think I am.

        • KCMikeG

I got to know him at camp over the last four years and really liked him. I’m sure he is going to go on to have a great career making us regret not keeping him. What do you see as “better” about Edleman over DMC?

  • berttheclock

So, Raji stays in GB for a year, Evans Dietrich-Smith, the center, jumps to the Bucs, Steve Smith inks for 3 years with the Ravens. I could have made an argument for each of them, but, time to move on. Somewhat busy Friday in some locales.

  • berttheclock

One player many forget is Joe McKnight. The Chiefs signed him to a future reserve contract and he is in the stages of working his way back into shape after being injured with the Jets, where, he was really misused. Speed to return and speed at RB, if he shows up at St Joe in shape. The only times he has ever faltered after leaving a very tough HS in Louisiana was when he came to camp still needing conditioning, which happened once at USC and when he first joined the Jets.

  • berttheclock

Welcome aboard, Mr Walker. I hope you stay out your new 3 year deal with the Chiefs.

  • redchiefs

If the Chiefs can land a truly good WR as a free agent signing for the #2 opposite Bowe (Avery or that fella from the CFL can play slot) then perhaps they can draft a truly effective pass rushing DE. I think Cooper will be completely solid this season and Sean Smith should get better. Some of those deep balls that made Sean Smith look bad was the Safety being out of position back there. If Cummings and Abdullah can round out the DBs that leaves the aforementioned pass rushing run stopping DE, one solid OL and then BPAs after that in the draft.

  • tazer15

I was never high on Sanders till lately ive heard some good things about him and figured well all we need is a speedy #2 guy that can catch the ball. Now that that espn report has surfaced if its true about the money he wants. And I never knew about the screws in his feet.Im back to being a bit turned off by him.Ive said all along I wanted Eldelman. I still believe him to be the better player.

    • Jim Harper

Don’t forget that he is out of our price range too!

      • tazer15

I dont believe that anymore if Dorsey has Sanders coming to town and the money hes asking for plus what we gave Vance.I think we are going to restructure someone or multiple contracts. And or release someone to free up some space…..Avery maybe

        • Jim Harper

I meant that Edelman is out of our price range, and you can bet they will make sure Sanders is healthy if they sign him.

  • Jim Harper

Does anyone know if Avant made a visit or where that deal is going if anywhere.

  • tazer15

Last thing I heard about Avant was the Pats were intrested.

  • sidibeke

    Any news on this front?
