Chiefs to Sign Former CFL Star Weston Dressler?

Rumors continue to swirl around the Kansas City Chiefs and former CFL star, Weston Dressler.

The former University of North Dakota standout tried out for the Chiefs earlier this month, but a deal was never struck. However, word is leaking that Dressler may be joining the Chiefs soon.

I’ve spoken to members of the Kansas City Chiefs media who have said that nobody at One Arrowhead Drive is letting anything slip.

Dressler caught 75 passes for 1,274 yards his senior year at North Dakota and continued his success after being drafted to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

If signed, Dressler could be a potential replacement for Dexter McCluster — who is due to hit free agency in March — or even Donnie Avery who had an underwhelming season. Though it would be a stretch to think that he could fill the role as the #2 receiver on the team, I think he would definitely get a shot.

What do you think, Addicts? Is this signing just a “bottom of the roster” guy or a potential hidden gem?

Hopefully he will be a hidden gem, we should also keep McCluster he had an outstanding year and he give us great starting field position and if I remember correctly he only muffed one punt last year but lost none.

Have you seen the highlights for Dressler? Granted, its the CFL, but he is pretty amazing at catching everything that is thrown his way. He is a huge SK fan favorite for this tendency.

Also where was Dex before with his return play before? That was more system mixed with his skill set being exploited by the genius that is Dave Toub. He did it with Hester, Dex, and he will hopefully do this for Dressler and still get looked over for any HC positions so he can stay here in KC. I mean it, Toub is a genius…

Dexter has real talent, and wasn’t used correctly with the previous regimes. I’m not saying I don’t like Dressler – I do, and I’d like to see him become a star in KC, but let’s not forget who was in control of the offense for the last few years. I remember seeing him get put in the backfield on a 3rd and long situation, running a play up the middle. WTF kind of playcalling is that?

He’s appears to be a slot receiver and a return specialist. I think he could replace both Dex and Avery. If you can get Dex for a reasonable price you keep him … but if not .. oh well. Avery underperformed all season and I see no reason for the Chief’s to keep him. Dex making the Pro Bowl may of priced him out of the Chief’s price range. I never thought the Pro Bowl would be a bad thing but in Dex’s case it looks like it could be.
