Chiefs' Tamba Hali Makes His Rap Debut

Kansas City Chiefs OLB Tamba Hali is more than just a Pro Bowl football player.

He’s also a rapper.

We’ve heard stories for years about Hali spitting rhymes for his teammates in the locker room. Now it appears one of the most feared pass rushers in the NFL will make his official debut on a new album from KC recording artist, Steven Cooper.

We received an email today from Cooper’s manager, David “DJ Lee:

Steven has been rapping for over 10 years, toured all over the country and has had features with artist like Akon, Tech N9ne, David Cook, etc.

On November 19th, Steven is releasing his newest album, “Stereotype” . On this record we will be releasing a brand new single called “Fast Lane” that is featuring Krizz Kaliko and chiefs pro-bowl linebacker Tamba Hali. Most people do not know that Tamba has been crafting his rap game for many years, and this release with Steven Cooper will be his DEBUT release for Kansas City and the world to hear.

You can check out the track that features Tamba below. Hali comes in and does his bit at 2:52. I have to say, I was pretty impressed with Tamba. He’s no Stacy “Reach” Smith, but he certainly holds his own. I like his slower, steady style. I’ll be interested to see what Arrowhead Addict’s Hip Hop artist, Reach, has to say about Hali’s skills. I am sure he will let us know in the comments.

What do you think, Addicts? Does Hali have a career in music after football?

LOL! I’ll answer the question. I think he will have a solid rap career after playing in the NFL, and he is actually pretty good. Keep it up Tamba!

As long as he is 100% focused on Football during his time in KC I could care less if he goes on the be the tiddlywinks champion of the world–lol

I first heard Tamba on a track with Philly rapper Gillie Da Kid. He’s surprisingly talented for a professional athlete. One of the best I’ve heard (though I’m not sure that’s saying very much).

  • cd3382

    I liked it!

  • Brandon Mecham

I’d like to hear a full Tamba song, but I’m surprised. He wasn’t bad on that verse.

  • Danny W

He’s better than Deon Sanders and Shaq. It was a brief clip but think he did alright.

  • ladner morse

Yea… but can he collect a SB MVP trophy, chew gum and rap at the same time????

  • micah stephenson

    YEEAAAAAAA!!!! He sounds pretty decent!

  • micah stephenson

If anyone would be an expert on Sucking Micah, it would be you.

      • micah stephenson

Actually you woman is better. Whew weee! She can suck start a leaf blower.

        • Jim Harper

          • micah stephenson

Ok yo current woman then, if you hav one.

  • Stacy D. Smith

Shaq’s probably my favorite pro athlete rapper. He had some decent records over the years.

I have to note two things with this:

    1) James Harrison also is an aspiring rapper. So Tamba having similar aspirations gives us a guy with similar (if not flat out better) on field production without all the illegal hits.

    2) I find it horribly ironic that the song is about “life in the fast lane” and Tamba can’t seem to stop getting speeding tickets. Seriously. If you have the time, inclination and access, run a docket search in PA, NJ & MO. Dude collects a lot. Actually makes me feel better about mine…

If anyone’s curious, I discovered the latter last year while trying to discover why he was suspended at the beginning of last season.
