Are You An Arrowhead Addict Lurker?

We know you’re out there.

You visit Arrowhead Addict every day. You read all the articles. You follow us on Twitter (@arrowheadAddict) and Facebook (facebook.com/arrowheadaddict). You have opinions.

And you keep them to yourself.

You’re a lurker.

There is no shame in being a lurker. Most of us have lurked around a site at one time or another. Sometimes it just takes the right moment to step out of the shadows and announce you are an Arrowhead Addict.

My friends, that time is now.

We love all of our readers, from the frequent commenters to the lurkers. But we want to get to know everyone so I am inviting you lurkers to finally step out of the closet to out yourself.

The content is just one part of the Arrowhead Addict community. The discussions and debates we have in the comments are really what this site is all about. We learn a ton from talking football with each other, and I feel like I am a smarter football fan, thanks to many of the people I have met and talked with here on Arrowhead Addict.

We want to hear from you. First-time commenters, former commenters that went on hiatus. Hell, we even want to hear from you blabber mouths that comment on a regular basis. But we especially want to welcome some lurkers into the light.

My name is Patrick, and I am an Arrowhead Addict.

See? That was easy!

    I am an arrowhead addict

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

And an Addict with an awesome avatar at that!

  • Sarah Thomas

Hi, I’m Sarah, and I’ve been a Lurker for a couple of years. I’m a life long Chiefs fan and I’m so very excited this year! I’ve commented several times..but I don’t know the tech stuff..so I just cheer my team on. I have a Chiefs room in the house that I’m proud of.When we go to the Super Bowl, I have a huge Chiefs flag that I will be waving proudly, and you’ll hear me all the way to Arrowhead!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Sarah is the best and is a big supporter on our FB page. Glad to have you!

  • Patrick

    My name is Patrick….and I’m a lurker

    • Patrick

Not to confused with this sites Patrick.

      • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

You can never have enough Patrick’s!

  • Jason Seibel

I’m so much of an Arrowhead Addict that I sent Patrick articles relentlessly that were too big for me to just post in the comments section. He finally reletned and gave me a position as a staff writer. We like to call that “enabling.”

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

      Or harassment. ;)

    • Darkwolf1414

Hey Patrick, take the position back. LOL I don’t always agree with you, Jason, but you’re doing a good job.

  • Da Menace

My name is Troy and I’m a lurker. First it started with just checking in for pregame comments, then it was post game and before I knew it every damn day, sometimes if not always at work. Needless to say I too am an Arrowhead Addict.

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Welcome Troy. Hope to see you commenting more. We need some extra conversations to help us get through the Chiefs-less summer.

  • Ryan Longstreth

My name is Ryan and I am a lurker, have been for a couple years now. I am a diehard chiefs fan that lives in Arkansas my wife is a Denver fan so needless to say last season was sheer misery; bit I cannot ever remember a more promising off season. GO CHIEFS!!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Hi Ryan! Thanks for commenting. Hope to see more of it and I hope we can sweep the Donks for you this year!

  • Altarium

Been a while since I commented much. But I’ve still been reading every day! I think I stopped having much to say when the Chiefs started sucking last season (basically post Saints game). So I did the typical Irish thing, and kept my frustrations inside instead of coming here and complaining publicly! I guess it’s time I started commenting again. Of course, you asked for people to comment more during the most boring part of the football year (which I’m guessing was intentional)!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Yeah we always need the comments. Everyone gets a little disengaged when the Chiefs suck. Last year was tough for me to even post game recaps. I was just like “we suck, when will it end.”

  • seawray

My name is Chad. I started following you guys after the great depression of 2012 season. I always read bleacher report before but, that just wasnt enough. I had to find some others who loved the Chiefs as much as i do. I check your website more than once a day, maybe bi-hourly. I live in Hawaii right now so, i don’t get to discuss the Chiefs with many other fans.

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

I feel you. I live in NYC and there aren’t too many KC fans lurking around here.

Great to have you on board!

      • seawray

I might be moving up that way next year. Might have to get a fan crew together to watch games.

  • jbyrd

My name is Jason and I’m an Arrowhead Addict. I’ve been lurking around this site on a daily basis for quite some time. Keep up the good work!

    • jbyrd

Sorry. I meant to add that picture as my profile pic.

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

No worries. We need more people dropping photos in the comments anyway. Liven up the place!

  • Heilios

My name is Patrick and i am a lurker/addict. I read the site everyday and every once and a while i will post a comment here and there. I still have my favorite Chief as McCluster and cant wait for opening day. I will be there in my crappy seat that for that one day is the best seat at Arrowhead! Ill be the guy completely painted head to toe red and gold! GO CHIEFS!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

      Another Patrick? This is excellent!

  • chiefcottonmouth

Hello, my name is Kevin. I’m a lurker from Seattle, but I’m originally from kc. Lurking this site gives me a taste of home. I don’t like the seacocks and I hope that the chiefs will give me something to boast about this year in this dreary gray hole that is wa.

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Pleased to meet you Kevin. I always heard people like living in Seattle. Not a fan, eh?

    • JJ Allen Keller

Them is fighting words to a SeaHAWK* fan like myself.

  • ChiefsFan_4life

My name is Matt and am a lurker/addict. I moved to donkey country around three years ago but still fly my chiefs flag in my front yard!!! Go Chiefs!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

That is essentially like giving the finger to all of Denver. Well done!

  • Natasha Sims

My name is Natasha, and I’m an Arrowhead Addict. I’ve been lurker-free since 2011.

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Whoo! I remember when you stopped lurking. It is refreshing, isn’t it?

  • Adam S.

My name is Adam and I am a lurker. Born and raised in KC and diehard fan since my dad took me to my first game when we beat the raiders 30-0. Cant wait for the return of football

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Hopefully the Chiefs can stomp the Faiders a few times this season too. We need to stop losing to those guys.

    • Darkwolf1414

That was every game against the Raiders in the 90′s.

  • Jeff

I name is lurker Jeff from Wichita. I have never posted I read AA everyday! You all do great work! Never felt I needed to post just will now to tell you all THANKS! Go Chiefs and go SHOXs!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Thanks Jeff. We’d love to see you commenting more and telling us what you think about stories and Chiefs news.

  • kc_chiefs

My name is Kc! I lurk everyday! My parents named me after the chiefs! I am a huge addict! And love all the articles! Just what we all need during this time of year! And all year

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Great name! Real Chiefs fans name their kids after the team and/or players.

  • david

My name is David, I live about 3 hrs from kc and I have been a Chief’s fan my whole life

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Hi David. Pleased to meet you. What is your favorite BBQ joint?

      • david

I am a fan of gates

        • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

When I was in KC that was my favorite. Though the Z-Man was damn good at Oak Joes.

  • Scott Edward Sternberg

I’m always lurking… I work about 60-65 hours a week and this site is a nice way for me to keep track of the one Pro Team that I love with every fiber of my being! The Kansas City Chiefs!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

I feel you. I work similar hours. What do you do?

      • berttheclock

BTW, not a lurker, but, great idea for a column, Patrick. Lots of great fans out there from all over the nation. Only thing missing is a joke from a great cartoon I once saw about another type of AA group. It was an AA meeting in Los Angeles, where a fellow stood and said “I’m Bill and I represent John who is an alcoholic”. So, where is, say, Charlie posting, “Hey, I’m Charlie and I represent Steve who is a huge fan of the Chiefs and your site”.

  • Craig Martinez

Hello, my name is Craig and I am a lurker from San Francisco (no MF’n closet jokes!). Been a Chiefs fan since the Montana years. There seem to be more Chiefs fans in CA than most would think, a lot of them following from the Montana, Allen and now Smith moves. A good friend of mine growing up was named after Marcus Allen (parents are %@!&ers fans), he has been a Chiefs fan for as long as I have, and I’ve heard a few similar stories from also-out-of-the-KC-area Chiefs fans. I’ve attended two Chiefs games, one last year in Oakland (remember the 15-0 field goal fest?) and one in SD during the 2010 season (remember the 31-0 stomping while Cassel was out due to an emergency appendectomy?), but never in Kansas City. It is my mission this season to make it out for one game…which one I am not yet sure of (Donkeys?) but I will definitely make the BART trip to Oakland again this year in hopes of seeing a win. Go Chiefs!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Did you get to catch a lot of Alex Smith games out there in SF?

    • Darkwolf1414

Hey Craig, I’m originally from KC, had a 12 year layover in Atlanta and I have lived in Cali for 7 years now. You definitely have to find a way to make it to a game at Arrowhead! I haven’t been back since the 2003 season and I miss it like crazy. There is no other stadium like it. Hopefully this will be the year it gets to rocking again. The electricity in that building is AMAZING!

  • BWrangler

Hello, my name is Mark, grew up in Wichita and now living in Virginia, and I’m an Arrowhead Addict. I pore over this site everyday and really appreciate the research and wordsmithing that goes into making it the one-stop shop of all that is our beloved Chiefs Nation.Whether I agree with the bloggers/peanut gallery (with much respect), I always come away with a little more knowledge than I started with. I’m jazzed because I have some tickets for the Chiefs/Redskins out here in December. If all goes as forecast for both teams, this game should have playoff implications all around. Surprisingly, there are Chiefs fanatics all over the place out here and we always high five as we go about our business. LET’S GET ‘EM CHIEFS!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Thanks for commenting. How’s the weather in Virginia. I know some storms were getting ready to roll through there.

      • BWrangler

There was some pretty bad stuff (tornado warning in Fairfax), but nothing ever materialized where i live. It all went around.

    • Troy Utt

Mark, Good to meet you!! As well I was born & raised in Wichita, & live here to this day! Other than a couple of years in the WV/Ohio area where my wife is from… I Must say that the nice thing about living here, is being within driving distance for having season tickets! That is after you deduct points for heat, wind, humidity, & tornados! Where did you go to school / grow up? I too am excited for the upcoming season, probably more-so than any I can recall in recent history! We even planned our vacation this summer around Training Camp in St. Joe… Couldn’t believe I actually talked my wife into 10 days in the KS. heat in late July/early Aug…
      WAR CHIEFS!!!

      • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

I am originally from Ohio. Where are you from down there? A good friend of mine is from Bellaire.

        • Troy Utt

My wife is from Marietta, Ohio…We only lived out there just shy of 4yrs. but due to advancement wound up moving 3X! From Ravenswood WV, to Parkersburg, WV, & on to Beckley WV, before coming home to stay! Back in the land where a speed bump is a mountain! Loved it out there though!

      • BWrangler

Good to meet you too Troy! I grew up in SW Wichita near the airport and fairly close to Goddard. I went to Bishop Carroll, graduated many moons ago. Season tickets would be awesome, but I’m jazzed that I get to see them out here, hopefully kicking some tail on the way to the playoffs!

        • Troy Utt

Heights High Alum here… Most every football season Heights & Carroll play the first game of the season…9 times out of 10 that is the game that determines the City League Champ. I don’t know if you get back this way or how long it’s been…but man, have things changed! I could not believe after being gone those few years how drastically different everything was! This slow period between the draft & the start of the season is killing me, as I am one of those “IDIOTS” that watches every single pick of the draft, etc… I have high hopes not just for the team in the upcoming season, but for Alex Smith, the up-graded secondary, and that Reid will be sucessful in molding & aiding in the maturity of Tyler Bray! I am hoping he can turn into the QB all once thought he could be, as it would be nice to turn the offense over to a QB of our very own! Especially one who is a danger to go down-field on any given play!
          WAR CHIEFS!!!

  • thomas webb

I’ve been a Chiefs fan for 40 years I don’t recall ever being this excited for the upcoming season!..Hi call me T-Bone and I’m a Lurker!… GO CHIEFS!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

We’ve never had a T-Bone around here. Awesome nickname.

      • Darkwolf1414

Actually, we do already have a T-Bone. Thomas can be Coco. Sorry, saw T-Bone and had to make the Seinfeld reference. LOL

  • chiefsfan4life

I am an arrowhead addict lurker

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

      Yes!

  • Troy Utt

My name is Troy & I’m an Addict!!! I started out lurking, & came out after last season, & before the draft… Now I am on AA multiple times each day, thru-out the night, for hours on end!!! I have told this tid-bit before here on AA, so other regulars bear with me…
I have a son named KC, a dog named Chief, & when my wife gave me grief about getting an arrowhead tattoo with KC in the middle rather than opting for her name or the kids… I explained, “You have to understand…The Chiefs have been with me a lot longer!”
That’s an understatement…been married like 27 years, but a Chiefs Fan since birth! WAR CHIEFS!!!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Glad you enjoy the site. Frequent visits are always good cause we try to update a lot.

    • Darkwolf1414

Tell your wife that you just don’t want to get divorced. When you get your wife’s name tattooed on your body, along comes the inevitable divorce. It’s the way the universe works. LOL Or you could go the other way and say that the Chiefs will always be there for you but you’re not sure about her. :)

      • Troy Utt

It’s kind of been the running joke for years now! As we are heading to Summer Training Camp in St Joe for the first time this might be the year to break down & do it. Of course since I’ve kept her around this long I might as well keep the streak alive seens’ how she committed to nearly two weeks in the Ks heat for TC…

  • Pauly

My name is Zo, I was born and raised in Maryland, and I’ve been a Chiefs fan since ’90 (the start of the golden years). And yes I’m a lurker!
    Big Red Forever!
    Go Chiefs!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

The 90′s was when I got onboarded as well. What a great time.

  • Caleb Wylie

I am a MASSIVE arrowhead addict lurker, I love KC Chiefs!!! Born chief, die chief!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

      Great to have you, Caleb!

      • Caleb Wylie

Idk what I did with those arrows, but What I mean is LIKE!

  • ArrowFan

Help I can’t stop visiting AA!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

      It’s ok. Just embrace it.

  • Kelby

^^^^^^ is a lurker. Have been reading AA for a few years and just started wetting my palette in getting into discussions. From UT and I am right where Broncos fans start transitioning to Raiders fans, bleh. Love my Chiefs and I must say that this blog has probably produced some of my worst fantasy football seasons as I get so stoked every year about the Chiefs (this year is not an exception). Credit to the writers for doing a fabulous job. Since I have a mini-soapbox I’m stating No to T.O. (really? that’s a story??) Reed (and Reid) was a great hire and I support Fast Food Friday! Now to visit KC to get some of that BBQ…

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

It seems like there are a lot of Chiefs fans who end up in Donkey country. Wonder how that happens.

      • Kelby

i can say personally it came from my dad, who has been well traveled and I’m sure he started watching the Chiefs when great Lenny Dawson was winning us championships. When I started taking interest in sports was in DT’s hay-day and there was no turning back. RIP #58

  • Mark

hello my name is mark i am a arrowhead addict

  • Mark

Well i just wanted to say i have been a chiefs fan for years. i just went to arrowhead and spent a lot of money at the pro shop. went on the tour. that was anice. I love my Chiefs i live and breath red everyday my wife and kids give me hell over the Chiefs but i do not care what they say we will win we will win we will win we will win. Thats my chant every day. i love my Chiefs go big red.
    Thank You Arrowhead Addict.
    Mark

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Thank you, Mark. What did you get at the Pro Shop?

    • Darkwolf1414

They (wife and kids) just don’t get it but you are among friends here. :)

  • berttheclock

Patrick, one point about lurkers being out there. I, first, heard of your site by Chiefs’ fans at D’s Bar in Portland, Oregon. Great Chiefs and Iowa bar. Several mentioned your site and said they read it more than going to the Star. I was very surprised because, at the time, I only followed the Chiefs through the Star. When, the Chiefs played the SeaChickens (at that time they were chickens, but, now, have exploded into being real mean Hawks), a contingent of fans from D’s went up I-5 or rode Talgo to cheer on the Chiefs. What I have liked about that group is they have diverse collegiate backgrounds from the KC area and surrounding states, but, come together on Sundays as Chiefs’ fans

  • Troy Utt

Patrick as you realize this was a great topic / avenue for reader interaction! I was also thinking about the Programmed Response from the”AA” theme if you will & the timing of such article… Perfectly timed…as if you had put this out at the the end of last season it could have very well gone like this…
Hello my name is Troy, and I’m an ADDICT… (as I’m opening a vein with a plastic butter knife!) LOL

    • Darkwolf1414

Oh shut up, Troy! You brown noser! Just kidding. Good point!

      • Troy Utt

        I know… A poor attempt at humor!
Although metaphorically that was the way I felt by the end of last season! Actually after every game…

        • Darkwolf1414

Actually, I don’t think it was too bad of a joke. I think a lot of us felt like that, too. I still sat here watching every game, though. Guess I’m a glutton for punishment.

          • Troy Utt

Trust in the fact I didnas well! Just I spent the day running all over town lookin for a new jersey for my 8yr old son. With Nike having taken the uniforms, etc…over they tell us it will be into pre-season before they are able to get any… As we are headed to Training Camp this summer, he really wants one before we go! Guess it is off to the NFL-SHOP…

  • brandon

My name is brandon and im 26 and a life long chiefs fan from wichita kansas. Currently live in hutchinson ks. I love this site i check it out probably 2-3 times a day on my phone to read the incredible articles and get my chiefs fix.

  • SlickGoldie

I’m Matt and definitely a lurker. I post once in a blue moon but always am reading the Addict. I write my own movie review blog so don’t have a ton of extra time to chime in too frequently in the threads. I live in Stamford CT and have been a huge Chiefs fan since Christian Okoye came into the league. Definitely my favorite player of all-time. Been to Arrowhead once but hope to get out there again soon.

  • Franklin Law

Hi, my name is Frank. I have commented a few times but for the most part I lurk. I visit AA at least a couple times a day to get my fix of Chiefs news and insight.

  • Chiefer

I’m constant lurker :) I read it all but comment seldom.

I have been a chiefs fan for 3 years now and have been following AA for about the same amount of time. Thanks for all the wonderful articles you guys put out. I’ve learnt so much both from the articles and the discussions here.

    • Darkwolf1414

What happened 3 years ago that brought you to the Chiefs?

  • Kyle Grozinger

I’m a longtime lurker, hourly checking this site to feed my addiction. Just turned 30 and have only routed for 1 NFL team (even when living in San Jose, CA aka Haider territory). Brought both my boys to a Chiefs game before they were 6 months old! Will die bleeding Red and Gold!

  • Carlos Angel

Hi, my name is Carlos and I have been a lurker for years!!! I read all the articles and all the comments, but have yet to post. This article was just what I needed to take the next step and become an avid commenter. Thanks Patrick, love your work and am looking forward to being more involved!! I am writing all the way out here in Los Angeles and hope to be there for the home opener against the cowgirls…!! Dedicated and die hard chiefs fan since inception!! Or as long as I can remember….!!! Keep up the great work!!!

    • Darkwolf1414

Good to hear from you, Carlos!

  • Mark

Well Patrick I bought a Chiefs jersey nike shorts and the hat that has KC on it like herm edwards all ways had on. And no I was not a Herm fan I just liked the hat. I am working in KC for 6 weeks. It is nice being around Chiefs fans. My job has me all over the us working.I breath and bleed red every day. so we have to put the WINS in the air lets get back to the days when Marty was here.when i go to the games i want to leave the stadium def like it used to be.Win win win win.
    Thank you AA.
    Mark

    • Darkwolf1414

Yeah, deaf and barely able to speak from yelling so much. LOVE THAT!

  • aelder027

I am a lurker most of the time but love my Chiefs all the way from Salt Lake City, Utah!

  • Tony Parker

Hey All, long time reader, err, lurker, first time blogger from Calgary Alberta, Canada. first off i would like to say to all the writers at AA, take a bow boys, u deserve it. Used to read kcchiefs.com until i found this site and am very glad i did. Been a Chiefs fan since the Montana trade. visit your site everyday and there is always something to read…Great job!
After the last couple of years as a fan i started to think about hopping to another team, tired of the inferior product to hit the field, then i realized that my heart was way to heavy for Chiefs. This will be my team till the day i Die.
this year I am having quiet optimism for what our beloved Chiefs will put on the field. I am in a “show me what u can do” state of mind but eager and excited for St. Joe.
still think the team has some holes, D-line. but definately improved.
hoping to cross the border and get to a game this year at Arrowhead, can’t Wait!!
Maybe some of u guys can point me to be better watering holes & tailgating in KC?
One last thing, “the CFL sucks” and did i see Micah over at the Jets fan site?? with his beloved Geno? GO ALEX SMITH & CHIEFS!!!

    • Darkwolf1414

Welcome, Parker. I used to read kcchiefs.com, too but stopped in recent months. When Josh Looney first came on the scene there I didn’t like him. I got used to him after awhile and then he left. It’s funny because now I have issues with getting my Chiefs news from the new guy there. I haven’t even been back to see the shows that Mitch Holthus and Kendall Gammon do. AA is better in many ways. Not the least of which is not getting your comments taken down because someone running the site disagrees with you.

  • Chris Foosman

Every time I give my opinion I get shouted down because I use facts and stats to back them up, or at least cast doubt on the reasoning being used, and while the site is nice the writers, and their fans, don’t like being proven wrong, or at least not 100% right. I enjoy some of the articles. The drive for Geno was a little much, and really turned me off.
