The full 2013 NFL schedule isn’t set to be released until April 16th but that doesn’t mean the NFL won’t give us a little appetizer to get us ready.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the NFL will release its preseason schedule this afternoon.

Come on, Addicts. You know this is the part of the schedule you’ve been waiting for.

The preseason is somewhat controversial, mainly because the NFL makes season ticket holders pony up for crappy games nobody wants to see.

I actually love the preseason. Sure, the games aren’t particularly exciting but in most recent years, I feel like the preseason has given me a pretty good indication of where the Chiefs were at as a football team.

One exception was the first preseason game last year. The KC starters looked absolutely awesome and everyone thought that the Romeo Crennel era was off to a tremendous start. Then we all got an ice cold bucket of water thrown on us. The Chiefs were terrible the rest of the preseason and their awful play carried over into the regular season.

Still, any Chiefs football is better than no Chiefs football. This year’s preseason will be particularly interesting because KC will have a ton of new players and of course, a new QB and head coach.

The Chiefs have played the Green Bay Packers the last couple of years in the preseason. Back in 2010, KC also played the Philadelphia Eagles. It will be interesting to see if the Chiefs take on the former teams of their new GM and head coach. We do know the Chiefs will play the Eagles during the regular season so that could be interesting.

What say you, Addicts? Are you excited to see the preseasons schedule?
