Literally minutes after we posted an article that the Kansas City Chiefs were still going after former Miami Dolphins CB Sean Smith, Smith’s agent tweeted that his client just signed a deal with KC!

This is a tremendous signing and really helps the Chiefs heading into the 2013 season.

Smith could step in as the starter opposite Brandon Flowers. Smith, who is huge for a CB at 6’3″, 215 lbs., had two interceptions last year while playing over a thousand snaps for the Dolphins. He also allowed receptions on only 54.9% of his 113 targets. He also defended eight passes.

On the bad side, Smith seemed to struggle a bit late in the 2012 season, according to his Pro Football Focus grades. He was also credited for giving up six TDs. He graded a -3.1 on the season. His coverage grade was average at +0.7.

The good news is that Smith is still young. He will turn 26 in July.

We will have more on Smith later but right now, what is your initial reaction?

UPDATE: No official contract details yet but we got this from Pro Football Talk:
