Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson fell just nine yards short of Erik Dickerson’s single season rushing record Sunday, a feat made all the more remarkable considering he was returning from a torn ACL.

But Peterson wasn’t the only NFL back to complete an improbable comeback.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles was also returning from a torn ACL. Charles suffered his injury in the second game of 2011. He rehabbed all offseason and was ready to go at the start of 2012. Charles finished the season (unofficially) with 1509 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Charles has never rushed for more yards in a season.

Unfortunately for Charles, his teammates did not match his level of success and the Chiefs finished the year 2-14. Major changes are expected over the course of the next 24-48 hours but no matter what happens, Charles will be back at it again in 2013.

Congratulations to Jamaal on a terrific season. He provided a glimmer of hope in what was otherwise a dismal season.
