Matt Cassel Will Start vs. Chargers

The Brady Quinn Era is over.

For now, anyway.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel announced today that Brady Quinn has been ruled out of Thursday night’s game due to a concussion he suffered at the hands of the Oakland Raiders.

The Quinn era, which officially started last week when he was named the starter by Crennel, ended in four passing attempts for two yards and an interception.

Fitting.

That means, I am sure much to the delight of AA staffer Big Matt, the Matt Cassel era is here again!

Time to get nostalgic.

Lord give me the strength to forgive things I can not change!

  • Jonathan Aldridge

we need the first pick of the draft to get the projected first qb to get drafted, geno smith. so this will be a great way to do so.

  • chiefridgy

stanzi? I don’t know why they refuse to play this guy

    • Jonathan Aldridge

stanzi is even worse! he is scared to play in the nfl u can see it in his body language when he steps on the field

      • Larry Devore

when have you seen him on the field? preseason?

        • KCMikeG

And excuse me but every time he has stepped on the field but once it has been with our camp bodies and back ups. Think about how Cassel and Quinn have been abused with our starters. Stanzi has never had a pocket to throw from as he has always been running for his life. Unless Cassel lights it up in SD I say give the kid a shot. Same with Tanney if Stanzi can’t get it done. Great time to see what we have at the position to make the decision that is critical for us to get right in the FA and draft decisions next year.

I agree, Tanny should get a shot if Stanzi can’t get into rythym. You know Quinn is RACs guy, but I say after this SD game, Stanzi and Tanney should be the guys

          • Jonathan Aldridge

tanney is on IR so u have to rule him out

          • KCPauly

from what I understand under the new cba you can take one player off IR

          • http://twitter.com/aharp31 Big Jim

Right you are Mike. This just underscores how deep the problems run. My understanding is that this is the first year the line has gone to a zone blocking scheme. In previous years with the exception of Richardson the offensive line was pretty good at both run and pass blocking, so is the problem their inability to adjust to the new scheme that makes our line so terrible? Whatever it is, it won’t matter which QB we run out there until the line is fixed.

          • KCMikeG

That is true Jim. Winston said it was one of the things that attracted him to KC (besides the fans & BBQ). Strange how he has had issues. The injury to Hudson has shifted everything and Lilja is a great guy but has problems at center besides being to small for today’s NFL DL’s. Allen is really struggling and Asamoah is still developing. So really Albert is the only stability and consistency our OL has. No wonder we are struggling.

      • redchiefs

We dont know Stanzi is worse, most snaps were with backups

    • Larry Devore

      Idiots, pure and simple

      • KCPauly

We Also have Alex Tanney on IR with some mystery ailment..Oh wait I know what it is he’s to good and would make Peehole look even stupider for sticking with Cassel…The guys got a rocket launcher arm and it’s deadly accurate …Play him you retards…and oh yeah Dabehole you might want to let Charles touch the ball more than 8 times you piece of sh*t …what a joke you are moron

We have 9 more games left before we get the #1 draft pick…. Good Job!

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Could come down to our games against the Browns and Panthers. The good news is that the Panthers won’t take a QB. The Browns may not either if Weeden continues to improve.

  • Larry Devore

Does anyone really care anymore. Hunt and Pio;i really don’t care what kind of product they put on the field. So why should the fans care?

  • tm1946

Offensive play calling, offensive game planning, Charles on the sidelines, and we are supposed to worry about Cassel, yeah sure.

    • redchiefs

Dont forget the O line’s inability to block

  • BurtGummer44

Quinn=Cassel==who the hell wants to watch either one of them? At this point they might as well pickup Vince Young, he could use the money, and he might at least be entertaining to watch while he runs around for his life. One thing is for sure, he couldn’t commit turnovers at any a faster rate than our current two stooges.

  • Matt Finucane

Here we go, Cassie! Time to prove these fools wrong!

In all seriousness, he’s probably still our best QB. I just can’t imagine he’s in a good place mentally right now. Might be time to give the guy a break, regardless of how bad the other options are.

    • http://www.arrowheadaddict.com Patrick Allen

Agreed. The little I saw of Quinn was enough. Cassel definitely gives us the best chance to win, which could be a good or a bad thing depending on your point of view.

  • tm1946

But the Clark Hunt era cotinues on and on and on….and on.
Only this is not a Halloween prank. In the world of pro sports, the Chiefs have met their equal the Royals.
But never fear, the Hunt family will get their money.

    • Jonathan Aldridge

yes sir they will.. and what will we get? another broken promise.

  • KCPauly
