Kansas City Chiefs Announce Practice Squad

The Kansas City Chiefs made a number of cuts yesterday to get their roster down to the required 53 players and today they’ve announced their practice squad.

These eight players have been selected. They can be”called up” at any time during the season but they can also be signed by any other NFL team at any time.

WR Josh Bellamy, FB Patrick Dimarco, WR Junior Hemingway, DE Jerome Long, OT David Mims, WR Jamar Newsome, OL Luke Patterson, DB Neiko Thorpe

I figured Bellamy, Newsome, Hemingway and Long would make it. The first two were camp standouts and the latter two were draft picks. Mims is a guy they have been trying to develop for a while. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is called up at some point this season. Dimarco is the only fullback the Chiefs have around. They decided to go with four TEs and five running backs.

Interestingly, there could be changes coming to the practice squad soon. The Chiefs currently have 54 players on their roster because OLB Tamba Hali, who is suspended for the first week of the season, doesn’t count. That means as soon as Hali’s suspension ends, the Chiefs will have to make a roster move. It will be interesting to see if they take the last man off the roster and put him on the practice squad or just cut him outright.

What do you think, Addicts? Is there anyone missing you hoped would make the squad? I’d say Thorpe is the biggest surprise for me.
