KC Chiefs Training Camp Ends Today

The Kansas City Chiefs will wrap up their 2012 training camp today after practice. The team will then travel to St. Louis on Friday for their showdown with the Rams on Saturday night.

The Chiefs have had a productive camp to say the least. There have been no major injuries (knock on wood) and the team appears to be preparing well. There hasn’t been any drama (save the Dwayne Bowe situation) and if the first preseason game against the Cardinals is any indication, the team is certainly heading in the right direction.

The Chiefs will return to Kansas City next week for good. It may not seem like it but that transition will be very important. The players will now be able to return to their own homes and beds and while they will surely be more comfortable, they will also face the distractions that come with their every day lives. Camp is all football, all the time. Starting next week, however, that will change. Without curfews in place, the players will be free to go out and hit up the nightlife.

That being said, there is no indication that Chiefs fans should be concerned. Scott Pioli has put together a roster of pretty solid character guys and other than Donald Washington’s driving under the influence incident a couple of weeks ago, the Pioli-Chiefs have been relatively well-behaved.

The other question facing the team next week is the status of WR Dwayne Bowe. As far as we know, Bowe is still in Kansas City. The question will be whether he decides to report to practice on Monday. Or will he sit out another week or even into the regular season?

Stay tuned.
