Brodie Croyle Retires

Stew Milne-US PRESSWIRE

The Brodie Croyle story is over.

Croyle tells the Birmingham News that he is retiring from NFL football.

“I’m very grateful for everything football gave me,” said Croyle, 29, who prepped at Westbrook Christian in Rainbow City. “I just felt it was time, and that’s a mutual decision with NFL football. There’s very few guys who retire on their own terms. It was a fun ride, but I’m glad to be back, glad to be doing what I’m doing.”

Croyle never won a game as an NFL starter, despite multiple opportunities. While Croyle was never surrounded by a good team, he was never the difference-maker the Chiefs were hoping for. Croyle also had bad luck with injuries, leading many fans anoint him “Brokie Croyle.” In the end, his attractive wife who appeared alongside him on HBO’s Hard Knocks, ended up being more popular in Kansas City than the former 3rd round pick.

Croyle tried out for several teams last offseason but failed to make a roster. He did spend a brief portion of the preseason with the Cardinals.

We wish Brodie and his wife Kelly the best in whatever is next.
