Marvin McNutt Meets With Chiefs

According to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com, the Kansas City Chiefs have met with Iowa receiver Marvin McNutt.

McNutt, as well as any other draftable Iowa player, should be on the radar of Chiefs fans. Kansas City’s GM Scott Pioli is very good friends with Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz. Ferentz runs a pro-style system at Iowa and the Chiefs have selected a player from that program each of the last two years in TE Tony Moeaki and QB Ricky Stanzi.

McNutt is the school’s all-time leading receiver. He’s big at 6-foot-2 1/2 and 212 pounds and he reeled in 82 passes for 1,315  and 12 TD’s in his senior season. He ran a 4.45 40 at the combine.

NFL Draft Scout projects McNutt to be a 5th round draft pick. His problem seems to be speed and elusiveness, though most scouts seem to agree that he is an excellent route runner with solid hands. He projects as a possession receiver in the NFL.

The Chiefs have little depth at WR and could use a guy like McNutt who can get open with his route running. I watch a lot of Big Ten football and McNutt can play. He could turn out to be a sleeper in this draft.

McNutt has also met with the Dolphins and Bengals.

What do you think Addicts? Should the Chiefs try to snag McNutt in the 4th or 5th round?
