Jerricho Cotchery Will Visit The Chiefs Early Next Week

We recently told you that the Kansas City Chiefs were showing some interest in former New York Jets WR Jerricho Cotchery.

Now they’re bringing him in for a visit.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Cotchery will visit the Chiefs either Monday or Tuesday.

Landing Cotchery would be a very smart move for the Chiefs as they look to add quality depth to a team that should be able to compete for the AFC West crown in 2012.

Cotchery was a fourth round pick in 2004 and is only 29. His best season was in 2007 when he caught 82 passes for 1,130 yards. He signed with the Steelers last offseason but didn’t make a huge impact. He caught only 16 balls in 13 games for 237 yards and two touchdowns.

Cotchery would likely take on a similar role if he were to sign in Kansas City. The Chiefs already have Dwayne Bowe, Jonathan Baldwin and Steve Breaston. Cotchery would be an excellent backup/fourth WR option. He also has experience returning kicks.

This would be a smart, low risk signing for the Chiefs.
